APTOS
Hi! This is Bri, owner of Live Love Santa Cruz.
If you're considering relocating to the Santa Cruz area and need expert guidance on selecting the ideal neighborhood to purchase a home, look no further! I have a wealth of knowledge about various parts of town, as well as valuable insights and insider tips. I'm particularly discerning when it comes to the ambiance of a neighborhood and even which streets are better than others. I'm well-versed in identifying the best places to put down roots (and those to avoid).
As an avid surfer, I've experienced nearly all of the local surfing spots and am familiar with the intricacies of buying property near each one. Microclimates are important! Being a sun enthusiast, I've spent years studying the warmest areas of town and if you are going to live on the coast, a few blocks can make the difference between coffee and fog and coffee and sunshine.
As a devoted parent to two energetic little ones, and a fitness junkie, I am uniquely positioned to guide you toward the perfect neighborhood that suits your lifestyle needs. Balancing work, family, and health has given me a deep understanding of the importance of finding a home in a community that fosters growth and fulfillment. I am passionate about discovering the ideal balance of excellent schools, safe parks, and vibrant recreational opportunities to ensure that your family thrives both mentally and physically.
If you're new to the area, my mission is to guide you through the process of narrowing down your search to find the perfect home in the perfect neighborhood that aligns with your lifestyle requirements.

Overview
Aptos, California, is a vibrant, close-knit community located on the state's scenic central coast on the eastern flank of Santa Cruz. Aptos is characterized by its laid-back lifestyle, stunning natural surroundings, and rich history. The community itself is diverse, with an appealing mix of families, retirees, and professionals, all drawn to the tranquility and beauty of this coastal region.
Aptos is home to numerous outdoor spaces such as the Forest of Nisene Marks State Park and Seacliff State Beach, which offer residents and visitors ample opportunities for recreation, from hiking and mountain biking to surfing and picnicking. Nisene Marks is where my kids honed their skills on their balance bikes and its a real treasure. Spread across approximately 10,000 acres, it offers a spectacular retreat into an area that was once extensively logged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries but has since regrown into a thriving second-growth forest. The park is named after Nisene Marks, a passionate nature lover whose children donated the land to the state in her memory.
The park's terrain varies from gently sloping coastal lands to rugged, semi-wilderness areas, with a variety of ecosystems ranging from riparian zones to majestic redwood forests. The area is crisscrossed with over 30 miles of trails, including the historic Loma Prieta Grade trail, offering hiking, jogging, and mountain biking opportunities. These paths offer magnificent views and a chance to spot wildlife like deer, raccoons, and various bird species.
Nisene Marks is also noteworthy for its geological and cultural history. It was near the epicenter of the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake, and visitors can still see the "Earthquake Epicenter" sign on the Aptos Creek Trail. This park is not just a natural paradise but also a testament to the resilience of nature and its ability to recover and thrive
The community of Aptos is also proud of its local landmarks, including the Aptos Village Park, the historic Aptos Depot, and the Concrete Ship of Seacliff State Beach, a quirky remnant of an experimental shipbuilding era which the sea made a strong effort to reclaim during the winter of 2023.
The town features a charming commercial district with a variety of shops, restaurants, and services, providing residents with convenience without compromising the small-town feel. The quality of life in Aptos is also enhanced by excellent schools and community events like the annual Aptos Fourth of July Parade and the World's Shortest Parade, which bring residents together in celebration of their unique locale.
In terms of housing, Aptos offers a range of options, from beachfront homes to mountain retreats, reflecting the varied landscapes of this beautiful area. While it is an upscale community with a high cost of living compared to national averages, many residents find the unique combination of coastal living, outdoor opportunities, and community spirit to be well worth the investment. No surprise given the adjacent areas, Aptos is indeed an appealing choice for those seeking a balanced, serene lifestyle in a picturesque Californian setting.
